Three events in downtown Austin this weekend will cause lane closures in the Sixth Street district, around the perimeter of the Texas Capitol, and on South Congress Avenue and 17th Street,
according to the city of Austin.
The Fall Pecan Street Festival will take place from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and
close Sixth Street between
I-35 and
Brazos Street. Cross streets between
Seventh and
Fifth streets will also be closed on that stretch of road.
Much of the
perimeter of the Texas Capitol will be
closed Sunday from 7:15 a.m.-noon as the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure takes place. A lane reduction will occur at the
intersection of Lavaca and West 13th streets. Running through South Congress Avenue between 11th and Cesar Chavez streets, the race will be cleared south of the capitol by 11 a.m.
The city of Austin recommends taking South First, Lavaca or Guadalupe streets as alternate north-south routes.
On Sunday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Puppy Mill Awareness Day will take place and cause the
closure of
West 17th Street from
Trinity Street to
San Jacinto.
East-west alternate routes include Barton Springs Road, Riverside Drive and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
