At tonight’s Plano ISD school board work session, Lena Carrera was appointed to the Special Education Board Advisory Committee for a three-year term.
The Board Advisory Committee studies issues involving the education of Plano ISD students and makes recommendations to the board of trustees and district-based improvement committee, according to the
Plano ISD website. The committee is broken into five departments: Career & Technical Education, Diversity, School Health, Special Education and Gifted & Talented (PACE). Each committee includes a minimum of 15 members.
Ten people were appointed to the Career & Technical Education, Diversity, School Health, Special Education and Gifted & Talented (PACE) Board Advisory Committee during the Sept. 6 board meeting. New members are as followed.
- Dr. Allan Bird, Special Education, term expires in 2018
- The Rev. Arthur Jones, Diversity, term expires in 2018
- Bart Ridley, Career & Technical Education, term expires in 2018
- Flor Hamilton, Diversity, term expires in 2018
- Iwaz Barwari, School Health, term expires in 2019
- Jennifer Waters, School Health, term expires in 2018
- Rev. Patrick Price, Diversity, term expires in 2017
- Sandy Spoonemore, Diversity, term expires in 2019
- Dr. Sudi Randoing, School Health, term expires in 2018
- Tamra Sadafasz, Special Education, term expires in 2018
To become a member of a committee, complete an
application form and return it to the superintendent’s office, located at 2700 W. 15th St., Plano.
