Transportation Updates1. Custer Road widening

Construction began in January to widen Custer Road from four lanes to six lanes. The project stretches from SH 121 to Stonebridge Drive. The project includes widening the bridge on the roadway and modifying the traffic signals.

2. US 380

Construction to widen US 380 from Lovers Lane to Custer Road is more than halfway complete as of January. The roadway is being widened from five lanes to six lanes.

US 380 from Lovers Lane to CR 26 is also being widened to six lanes. That portion of the roadway will include frontage roads and a freeway section.

3. Warren Parkway and Ohio Drive roundabout

City staff is working to obtain funding to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Warren Parkway and Ohio Drive. Staff is working with TxDOT and the North Central Texas Council of Governments to help fund the roundabout. Work on the planned four-way, multilane roundabout is expected to begin in 2017. The roundabout is also expected to include a bike lane.

4. Stonebrook Parkway extension

Construction was completed in January to extend Stonebrook Parkway. Some lanes have been open to traffic since August. The contractor is finishing the final list items. The extension stretches from Fighting Eagles Lane to Longhorn Trail and features a new six-lane divided roadway with an underpass at the railroad tracks. The extension completes the connection between FM 423 and the Dallas North Tollway.

5. Teel Parkway extension

Construction is about 65 percent complete as of January to extend Teel Parkway from Stafford Middle School to Rockhill Parkway. The project includes building a bridge across the floodplain. The extension will be a two-lane concrete roadway.

6. CR 26 construction

Design work is now complete as of January to construct a new north-south roadway called CR 26. The six-lane county road will stretch from Rockhill Parkway to US 380.

Transportation UpdatesSam Rayburn Tollway

Beginning in 2018, the Sam Rayburn Tollway will be widened to add a fourth lane to both the northbound and southbound sides of the road.

The project will take place in two phases. The first phase will begin in 2018 and extend from Business 121 to the Dallas North Tollway. The second phase will begin in 2019 and extend from the DNT to US 75.

The environmental and preliminary design process for the project is expected to begin this spring. The total length of the project is 28 miles. About 12 miles of that length runs through the Frisco and Plano border.
