The city of Plano detected its first positive test for the West Nile Virus of 2015. The pool of 18 mosquitoes with the positive test was found at the 1300 block of Berkley Court, near Legacy and Alma drives. City crews will be spraying the area starting at
9 p.m. Aug. 7. There have been no human cases of West Nile in Plano this year.
The city’s Environmental Health Department is urging residents to stay inside during the spraying, along with any pets or animals. The department is also emphasizing the common prevention practice of the four Ds:
- Drain standing water.
- Use repellent with Deet during outdoor activities.
- Dress appropriately.
- Use extra caution at dawn and dusk.
