Grogan’s Mill Village Center is a retail development located on Grogan’s Mill Road. The center is anchored by a Randall’s grocery store and features a mix of eateries, retail stores and locally owned businesses. Every Saturday the shopping center also hosts the Grogan’s Mills farmers market featuring goods sold by an array of independent vendors.
Spotlight - The Woodlands farmers market at Grogan’s Mill
For the past eight years, local vendors have set up shop at the Grogan’s Mill Village Center every Saturday morning.
Hosted by the Grogan’s Mill Village Association, The Woodlands farmers market at Grogan’s Mill includes about 40 vendors attracting an average of 700 to 800 patrons on any given Saturday. The vendors sell everything from produce and meat to snow cones and coffee as well as personal care products and arts and crafts items.
“Besides being able to purchase produce that was picked the day or night before, our customers can personally engage with the farmers and other vendors who actually make their own products,” said Dana Denton, GMVA president and farmers market committee chair. “They can learn about the growing practices, the ingredients [and] the cooking processes of all the items they purchase.”
The success of the farmers market allows the GMVA to give back to the community, Denton said. Most recently, the GMVA was able to provide four $1,000 college scholarships to graduating seniors, four $1,500 donations to each of the Grogan’s Mill schools, a $2,000 donation to the Interfaith programs and a $1,000 donation to the veterans memorial statue.
In addition to the weekly Saturday farmers market, the GMVA also sponsors special events throughout the year such as the annual Tailgating Party on Super Bowl weekend and its “Back to School” celebration, which takes place Aug. 15.
“Personally I love the sense of community the market has created,” Denton said.

Spotlight - Brothers Pizza Express
Brothers Pizza Express has been a family-run business since the 1980s, with its location at 2620 Buckthorne Place in the Grogan’s Mill Village Center soon to celebrate its 18-year anniversary.
Since starting nearly 20 years ago, Manager Manny Bekiri said Brothers Pizza Express has been successful because the pizza it serves is unlike any other.
“We’re known for our New York-style pizzeria,” Bekiri said. “We serve pizza by the slice, pastas, salads, sandwiches and it’s all homemade. The best thing about this business is that since it is family run, there is a personal attention to customers, and we make everyone feel like family.”
Bekiri said his father and uncle started the Brothers Pizza Express business, and the company now has eight locations in the Greater Houston area. In every Brother’s Pizza eatery, there is a family member who is in charge and managing the restaurant, keeping the family name throughout all eight restaurants, Bekiri said.
“We’re just a little pizzeria where people can come in and get a warm, fuzzy feeling,” he said.
