Due to poor weather conditions expected on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, the city of Austin has postponed its New Year celebration.

"This decision was made for the safety and comfort of the entire Austin community," said William Manno, city of Austin corporate special events manager, in a statement. "Austin's New Year is designed to be a family-friendly celebration featuring the best of Austin arts, music, food and culture."

The city is considering possible alternative dates for the celebration, Manno said.

The event was set to take place Dec. 31 in Butler Park off Barton Springs Road and include fireworks. This would have been the fifth annual celebration of Austin New Year, also referred to as ANY.

Performers that were scheduled for the event included Invincible Czars, Mother Falcon, Peelander-Z, Brownout and Riders Against the Storm, according to a news release.
