Jon Franks was sworn in Oct. 20 as the first Grapevine resident to be elected to serve on the nine-member board of directors of the Fort Worth Transportation Authority, otherwise known as the T.
"With Tex Rail becoming a reality, which will come to downtown Grapevine and then into DFW Airport, Grapevine having a seat on the T board will be significant," Franks said.
The board consists of nine members, eight of which are appointed by Fort Worth City Council and one appointed by the Tarrant County Commissioners Court. The Tarrant County Commissioners Court appointed Franks. Board members will serve for the fiscal year 2014-15, which runs through Sept. 30.
Franks is an attorney/mediator with the Wynne Law Firm in Grapevine. He obtained degrees at Southwestern University in Georgetown and The University of Texas School of Law in Austin. He has served on the Tarrant County Family Law Bar Association and was also a municipal judge in Irving and Southlake.
