The Nov. 4 general election is approaching quickly, and Oct. 6 is the last day to register to vote.

Voters must register to vote with the county voter registrar in the county where they live. Applications can be found at county offices, or online at www.sos.state.tx.us and mailed to a voter's county of residence.

Residents are eligible to vote if he or she is:

a U.S. citizen

a resident of the county where you submit the application

at least 18 years old on Election Day

not a convicted felon

have not been declared by a court either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

General election voting

In-person early voting take place from Oct. 20 to Oct. 31.

Depending on which county they live in, Grapvine, Colleyville, Southlake and Westlake voters can visit www.votedenton.com (Denton County) or www.tarrantcounty.com (Tarrant County) for early voting locations and times. Voters can vote at any early voting polling place in their county of residence during early voting.

The last day to apply for ballot by mail (received, not postmarked) is Oct. 24.

Election Day is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 4.

Voters are required to vote at their specific precinct on Election Day, as outlined on individual voter registration cards.

Texas voters are required to present of seven forms of photo ID before casting a ballot. Those forms of identification include:

Texas driver's license

Texas personal ID card issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety

Texas concealed handgun license issued by DPS

U.S. military ID card with photo

U.S. certificate of citizenship or U.S. certificate of naturalization showing photo

U.S. passport book or card

Election ID certificate (EIC)

With the exception of the U.S. citizenship certificate, the identification must be current or have expired no more than 60 days before being presented for voter qualification at the polling.
