The city of Austin has closed city golf courses for Jan. 24. An original announcement indicated they would have had delayed openings. Golf courses will reopen Jan. 25 with normal hours.
The city also reported that most roadways are operating normally but that residents should still avoid driving for non-essential trips. The Austin Police Department has reported 245 collisions since 6:30 p.m. Jan. 23, according to a city news release. There were no serious injuries or fatalities reported.
City public works staff have responded to 64 calls of ice on roadways, and crews have been applying dolomite, which is a type of large-grain sand, to those locations. About 80 state, county and city service trucks have been helping to de-ice the roadways, according to the release.

The city of Austin has called a winter weather advisory, effective until noon Jan. 24, and many area schools have canceled classes.
Austin, Pflugerville and Round Rock ISDs all canceled classes and closed offices for Jan. 24 because of the inclement weather. RRISD had initially called for a two-hour delay of classes for Friday, but canceled classes early in the morning.
Harmony Public Schools, which operates several charter schools in Austin, also canceled classes.
Businesses and agencies, including the city of Austin and Texas Education Agency, are closing their offices and facilities for the day. YMCA of Austin branches will be closed until noon, and the YMCA's after-school and learning centers will be closed today because of school closures.
City of Austin golf courses have delayed openings, and golf patrons may call 512-974-9350 for more information. Deep Eddy Pool is closed, but Barton Springs Pool is open at a "swim at your own risk."
Capital Metro is operating on its Saturday service schedule with The University of Texas and express bus services canceled. UT and St. Edward's University also canceled classes and closed their offices for Jan. 24. Concordia University Texas canceled classes for the day, but offices will open at noon.
