A new gastropub is expected to debut in early December under a new apartment complex on South First Street.

Porter Gastropub, 3715 S. First St., Ste. A, is under construction and hiring employees to work the new restaurant and bar beneath the tree apartment complex.

Owners Joe Bixel, Neil Joiner and Trevor Lane are collaborating to create an English-style ambiance supported by a wide selection of local and imported beer and high-quality pub food.

Specialties will include beer cheese fondue, pirogues and charcuterie plates, among others. Fish and chips also tops the menu list of large plates. In addition, approximately 30 beers and wines are expected to be on tap, and classic and modern cocktails will also be available.

The early December target opening is contingent upon construction being complete on the new structure. www.porteraustin.com
