A little more than a year has passed since iPurl opened in The Woodlands, and owner Debbie Haymark said word of mouth has brought more customers to her store than she originally anticipated.

Haymark said "knitters talking to knitters" has aided healthy business in her yarn shop year-round, bringing in loyal patrons and new faces. The store offers a variety of American and global yarn products and accessories, including wool, cotton, acrylic, alpaca, angora, cashmere, mohair and silk styles.

"We listen to what people ask for and make sure we stock the yarns people are wanting," Haymark said.

The shop also offers monthly classes on topics such as sock, scarf and sweater knitting for skill levels ranging from beginner to expert.

Although iPurl is relatively new to The Woodlands, Haymark's love of knitting has spanned 40 years. After becoming interested in the hobby after her first child was born, Haymark opened a knitting store in Louisiana many years ago with her husband, but the shop closed after Hurricane Rita battered the area.

Now a Woodlands resident for six years, iPurl is a culmination of Haymark's ability to spread her knowledge and passion for knitting with the community.
