Southlake residents who do not live within the Carroll ISD boundaries can send their children to the district's schools, under an open enrollment policy approved by the board.

District spokeswoman Julie Thannum said some Southlake families live in the Northwest or Keller school districts but want to attend Carroll schools.

She said the policy will be based on space availability.

"The campuses they'll want to go to are the ones that are the most full," she said.

Students will have to provide their own transportation.

Thannum said the decision June 24 came in response to years of requests from residents who want their children to attend Carroll schools.
