Northwest Hills business plots expansion, starts franchising

Foodie Kids is cooking up a recipe for growth.

The Northwest Hills business that teaches children how to cook and enjoy food is expected to move in the spring to a bigger location in the same shopping center. Meanwhile, Foodie Kids founder Barbara Beery has started selling franchises of the business.

"I have been doing this for such a long time, for 25 years, and we have so much knowledge and so many things we can pass along," she said.

The new Foodie Kids will be almost twice as big as the current location at 3742 Far West Blvd. Beery said the new space will offer more retail, have two activity rooms and have the exact layout of the franchises being offered.

The new location will still have a "maker" area in which kids can stop by and learn from instructors how to make meals such as mini pizzas or breadsticks.

"We are making sure we teach things kids can take with them, but that it's also fun so they want to walk through the door," Beery said.
