Free drop-off of Green Waste bags offered through May 16 by Comal County Recycling Center

The city of New Braunfels' Solid Waste and Recycling Division has seen a 22% increase in residential garbage tonnage and a 19% increase in residential recycling, according to a press release issued by Comal County.

As residential collection volume decreases, Green Waste collection will be able to resume and the city is anticipating it will restart by the end of May, the release said.

Comal County is offering a temporary solution for New Braunfels residents wishing to dispose of their Green Waste bags, which would normally be picked up by the city's curbside program.

From May 1 through May 16, New Braunfels residents with a state-issued ID may take their bags to the Comal County Recycling Center at 281 Resource Drive, New Braunfels, for free.

Hours for the Recylcing Center are from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.

The fee is only dropped during this time for green waste brought in paper kraft bags. Fee still apply to loose brush and branches.

The program is only accepting branches, leaves and grass clippings. No trash, metal, food or single-stream recyclables will be accepted in green waste bags. More details are available online.

Materials can be dropped off in a car, truck bed or a trailer no larger than eight feet by four feet. Regular fees may be required for larger trailers.
