As a student at Round Rock High School, Paige Morgan Perry promised to bake her classmates' wedding cakes.
Now, as the owner of a bakery in downtown Round Rock, Perry said she has made good on that promise several times over.
Perry's business, Paige's Bakehouse, marked 18 years of operation in October, including nine years at the bakery's current location on Anderson Avenue.
About the owner
Perry is a pastry chef and said her love of baking started with family meals.
"I grew up in a big German family, so lots of potlucks," Perry said. "We always signed up to bring a dessert. That's when it really started."
By the time she was in high school, Perry said she was selling pastries to friends and teachers.
Her goal, she said, is to infuse kindness into the community and improve the lives of her customers with baked goods.

On the menu
The bakery sells a variety of cakes, cookies, pastries and other sweets.
The business's signature BabyCakes, which are small square single-serve cakes, are available in several flavor options. The store also offers a selection of decorated cookies, smash cakes and a variety of pastries ready for purchase.

Additionally, customers can special-order essentially anything, Perry said, with enough notice.
The bakery also has a solution for customers who need a sweet treat or small cake on short notice outside of the bakery's operating hours. A vending machine outside of the bakery, called the Cake Bot, is typically stocked with croissants, BabyCakes, cookies, cake pops and gluten-free options.
"Who doesn't want to buy cake from a vending machine?" Perry said. "It's just fun."
Giving back
Perry said the bakery has also partnered with other organizations and nonprofits.
Customers can pay for and donate a birthday cake benefiting Central Texas Table of Grace. Founded in 2014 by Stacy Johnson, the organization provides support to children in foster care and youth who have aged out of the system.
"Whenever they call, we will create a custom cake for them because they absolutely deserve it," Perry said.
