1. McKinney Performing Arts Center closes for renovations
The McKinney Performing Arts Center will be closed for much of 2026 as it undergoes a $10 million renovation project. It’s the building’s first major renovation project since the 2000s and includes plans for a public restrooms refresh, new theater seating and infrastructure improvements.
2. 327-unit apartment community slated for 2027 opening in McKinney’s Craig Ranch
Palladium Craig Ranch, a new multifamily development, is expected to bring 327 apartment homes to a 4.7-acre site in Craig Ranch Town Center. The project by Dallas-based Palladium USA will include a four-story residential building wrapped around a concrete parking structure.
3. McKinney P&Z recommends zoning change for Cannon Beach project
City leaders are considering a zoning change to accommodate the future Cannon Beach surf resort at the northeast corner of Stacy Road and SH 121. McKinney’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted to recommend new zoning for the project in March. McKinney City Council is expected to consider the zoning request and take final action at an April 7 meeting.
4. Council approves annexation, zoning for new apartments in north McKinney
McKinney City Council members approved annexation and new zoning in March for more than 37 acres located along CR 121 in north McKinney. The land is being zoned for multifamily development with plans to build between 550 to 600 units in total.
5. Demolition of former McKinney City Hall expected to start in April
Demolition of the former McKinney City Hall and Development Services building is expected to begin in April, according to city officials. McKinney City Council members approved a contract with RNDI Companies during a March 17 meeting to demolish both buildings. Development Services Executive Director Michael Quint said the process is expected to take three months once it begins.
