1. McKinney P&Z approves site plan exception for Chuy’s restaurant
McKinney officials have signed off on a site plan for a new Chuy’s Tex Mex restaurant coming to the West Grove development along West University Drive. The restaurant, confirmed by officials in December, could complete construction before the end of 2026, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

2. Next phase of Prosper Coit Road expansion delayed almost a year
The second phase of Coit Road’s expansion has been pushed back by nearly a year, according to a presentation by Prosper staff. Phase 1 of the project, which covers Coit Road from First Street to Prosper Trail, started in September last year and is on track to wrap up this fall. Town officials expected to start construction on Phase 2, which runs from Prosper Trail to Frontier Parkway, earlier this year. Officials now estimate that construction will not start until the end of this year.

3. Plano ISD anticipates $44M budget shortfall next fiscal year
Plano ISD is anticipating a $44 million deficit budget for fiscal year 2026-27, Chief Financial Officer Courtney Reeves said during a May 6 board of trustees meeting. PISD’s expenditures are projected to decrease by $3.99 million from last fiscal year, but revenues are expected to decrease by more than $14.5 million. Reeves attributed that decrease largely to declining enrollment and recapture, a program that reallocates tax revenue from property-rich districts to those the state deems property-poor.

4. Plaza Premium Group opens 2 new lounges at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport
Plaza Premium Group has opened two new lounges inside Terminal D at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. The new additions are the Plaza Premium First Lounge and the Plaza Premium Lounge. The Premium First Lounge is the first of its kind in the United States, according to a news release. The new addition features sit-down dining options with a menu that includes brisket Benedict, prime steak tips, duck tacos, cheesecake, warm bread pudding, as well as craft cocktails, wine and beer.

5. Collin College, UNT to offer new co-enrollment degree program in Frisco
A new co-enrollment degree program between Collin College and the University of North Texas is set to begin this fall. The program, called OnePath, will initially offer degree pathways in business or biology, according to a May 12 news release from the two institutions. The program is designed to streamline the path for students pursuing both their associate and bachelor’s degrees while expanding access to in-demand fields, according to the release.

6. Novartis breaks ground on new $280M Denton facility
Pharmaceutical company Novartis broke ground on its new radioligand therapy manufacturing plant May 7 in Denton. The Novartis plant is the first radioligand therapy, or RLT, manufacturing facility in Texas, according to previous reporting. The pharmaceutical organization will produce drugs for radioligand therapy, a form of targeted radiation used to treat advanced forms of cancer.
