McKinney to vote on mayor, three City Council seats on May 1

McKinney voters head to the polls May 1 to elect a new mayor and fill three City Council seats. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Mayor George Fuller, who has held the city's top elective office since 2017, is a builder and developer of custom homes and commercial properties. He faces a challenge from Thomas Meredith, a property manager and oil and gas consultant. Candidate Jimmy R. Stewart withdrew from the mayoral race but is still listed on the ballot.

The District 1 City Council seat is a four-way race among Cris Trevino, Johnny Moore, Stan Penn and Justin Beller. If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, the top two vote-getters will head to a runoff on June 5.

The District 3 City Council seat is between Vicente Torres and Gere Feltus. The At-Large Place 1 City Council seat is a two-way race between Brian Magnuson and incumbent Charlie Philips.
