The shop offers personal custom bra fittings with sizing options ranging from band size 28-52 and cup sizes A-O, its website states. Bella Bra Shop offers a variety of bra types such as supportive wire and non-wire styles, lingerie, nursing and maternity bras, post-surgical bras and sports bras.
2. Cafe Brazil
The McKinney restaurant offers the same menu as the company’s five other North Texas locations, which features omelettes, breakfast plates, quesadillas, sandwiches, salads and soups. The 24-hour coffeehouse and eatery also offers all-day breakfast items and a bottomless coffee bar.
3. Heyday Press
The business offers custom wedding invitations, personalized stationery, business cards, holiday cards and limited edition prints, owner Carissa Bleecker said. Heyday Press is located inside Neighbor Books.
4. Hugs Cafe
Officials with the nonprofit debuted the organization’s new $10 million headquarters and cafe in East McKinney with a July 2 ribbon cutting ceremony. The 13,500-square-foot building houses the new Hugs Cafe, a training kitchen, four classrooms, a second-story patio and administrative offices, according to the nonprofit’s website. Hugs Cafe Inc. is a nonprofit organization that offers training and employment opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Hugs Cafe CEO Lauren Smith said the building was “built by a village of people” who saw a vision to “create something bigger than themselves.”
5. Shiloh Place
Officials with the nonprofit organization, which supports single mothers with basic needs such as housing, childcare and utilities, debuted a new apartment community that doubles the organization’s capacity to serve single mothers and their children.
The community, located in East McKinney, features two residential buildings with eight units each. Each apartment has two bedrooms, a bathroom and a full-size kitchen. The community also features an outdoor area with green space and playgrounds for children, a program building and administration building.
The store specializes in needlepoint crafting supplies and sells a variety of canvasses, threads, needles and other accessories, owner Ginger Hayes said, who also owns the downtown yarn store McKinney Knittery. The shop also sells supplies for cross-stitching and embroidery.
Coming soon
The event venue will feature 3,000 square feet of indoor event space and 750 square feet of outdoor balcony space, according to its website. The venue will have a full prep kitchen to support any catering team and a built-in bar to accommodate bartenders. The Chestnut Hall will also hold its own events featuring local chefs and music, co-owner Alycia Kuehne said.
The roughly 40,000-square-foot arcade and restaurant is the largest Dave & Buster’s location in North Texas, Event Sales Manager Jeff York said. Dave & Buster’s locations offer arcade games, as well as a food and drink menu featuring chicken wings, burgers, cocktails and more, according to its website. The venue also offers screens showing major sporting events, as well as spaces for events including birthday parties and corporate gatherings.
McKinney’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted unanimously to recommend approval of a specific use permit request for the development of 2 buildings for an Enterprise Rent-A-Car facility during a June 23 meeting. The recommendation will be forwarded to McKinney City Council for final consideration at a July 21 meeting, according to a city document.
10. Zalat Pizza
The Texas-based company offers specialty pizzas and operates with late-night hours. The restaurant’s menu includes pizzas such as the Pepperoni Masterclass as well as the Pho Shizzle, which features chicken, red bell peppers, caramelized onions, hoisin and Sriracha swirls, basil and cilantro. The McKinney location will be the company’s 31st location in Texas.
In the news
Southlake-based restaurant chain Cotton Patch Cafe announced that it has been acquired by Local Favorite Restaurants from Altamont Capital Partners, according to a June 29 announcement.
Cotton Patch Cafe serves Southern-style cooking at 46 locations across Texas and New Mexico including menu items like chicken fried steak, roasted turkey and meatloaf, as well as steak, burgers and sandwiches from the grill.
12. Habitat for Humanity Collin County
The nonprofit organization is selling its longtime building on Couch Drive in McKinney, according to a July 8 news release.
The building currently houses administrative offices for the nonprofit, which serves local families by providing opportunities for affordable homeownership, as well as the organization’s ReStore facility, a store that sells new and gently used home furnishings. The nonprofit will continue to operate without interruption during the transition as officials work to identify a new location to house operations.
