DATA of Richardson, a local Jewish learning center and synagogue, opened in November at 1900 Forestwood Drive, Richardson. The facility focuses on education and unity for young Jewish professionals and couples by offering engaging, thought-provoking learning experiences and social interactions. A grand opening event will be held Feb. 10 from 1-3 p.m. to celebrate the completion of the center as well as the inauguration of its first Torah scroll.

The event will begin at 1 p.m. at Yale Elementary School, 1900 E. Collins Blvd., Richardson, where a rabbinical scribe and select honorees will write the last few letters into the Torah scroll. At around 1:30 p.m., attendees will form a parade of singing and dancing to carry the Torah scroll across the street to the synagogue and learning center, where it will be placed into the holy ark. Following the ceremony, the celebration will return to Yale Elementary for dancing, live music, food, bounce houses, and a food truck serving kosher BBQ. The event is free and open to the public.
