Sears Holdings announced Dec. 28 the closures of dozens of Sears and Kmart storefronts across the nation, including the Sears at Plano's Collin Creek Mall.

Centurion American President Mehrdad Moayedi said Dec. 20 he had purchased Collin Creek Mall’s former Macy’s and Dillards buildings as well as the Sears property and the interior structure of the mall. Moayedi said he is planning to submit a zoning change request in January to the city of Plano for a mixed-use redevelopment project.

Liquidation sales at Sears are expected to begin in January, and the store located at 851 N. Central Expressway is expected to be closed by late March, according to the release. The closure will also include the accompanying Sears Auto Center.

The recent rollout of closures comes as the the latest in a long line of shuttered storefronts announced by the company, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in October. www.searsholdings.com
