Westlake High School has been ranked No. 241 in the nation and is on the best high schools list by U.S. News & World Report.

Westlake was honored as a Gold Medal recipient and ranks second in Texas for comprehensive four-year high schools, second only to Highland Park High School and excluding magnets, early college high schools, charters and schools that require an admission process, a news release said.

The U.S. News Best High Schools rankings include data on more than 23,000 public high schools in 50 states and the District of Columbia. More than 17,000 schools were ranked on six factors, including their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college, the release said.
