Local nonprofit Texas Health Action hosted a grand opening for its first stand-alone Kind Clinic location at 1101 W. 40th St., Austin, on Friday, November 17. Mayor Pro Tem Kathie Tovo attended the clinic's opening and read a proclamation declaring it Kind Clinic Day in Austin.
The clinic offers full-service sexual health and wellness care with a focus on sexually transmitted infections. THA is the first nonprofit in Central Texas to offer the daily HIV prevention drug PrEP at little-to-no cost.
The clinic also provides gender-affirming medical services to transgender and non-binary patients at no cost.
Previously, the Kind Clinic operated out of its medical director Dr. Cynthia Brinson's research clinic. Because of space constraints, the Kind Clinic was only open to patients about 16 hours a week.
The new location began seeing patients early this month.
