Second Street will soon become a bit sweeter now that downtown toy and game shop Toy Joy has announced its newest candy store, Yummi Joy. Yummi Joy will open in the space recently vacated by Cafe Ruckus at 409 W. Second St., Austin, next door to Toy Joy's original location at 403 W. Second St., Austin. The sweet shop is slated to open in late August and will offer an array of bulk and packaged candies from around the world, assorted chocolates, homemade fudge, classic sodas, coffees and hot chocolates. It will also feature a dozen non-dairy ice cream flavors from local ice cream parlor Sweet Ritual via a walk-up window that will be open late. Sweet Ritual co-founder Amelia Raley worked at the original Toy Joy on Guadalupe and 29th Street nine years ago, then started her own line of distinctive vegan flavors when she partnered with Valerie Ward, formerly of Amy’s Ice Cream Shop, to form Sweet Ritual. Raley and Ward will also continue to operate their Sweet Ritual retail store in Hyde Park at 4631 Airport Blvd., Austin. “This is our first foray into food and beverage and we’re super excited about this direction,” said Toy Joy co-founder and CEO Fred Schmidt in a news release. 512-320-0090.  www.toyjoy.comwww.sweetritual.com
