The construction of Lewisville City Hall’s basement is underway after Lewisville City Council approved a professional services agreement Dec. 5.
About 10,500 square feet of the basement will be remodeled into a conference center, according to the agenda item. It will consist of large and small conference rooms, a kitchen and break area, restrooms and a large classroom that can be divided into smaller classrooms.
The project also includes the upsizing of the on-site generator to allow full emergency backup power for all of City Hall.
The basement is being remodeled so staff can better suit the current needs of the city, according to officials. The project’s goal is to incorporate improved safety and security for staff and visitors, improved internal and external meeting spaces, and improved storage space.
