Lake Travis ISD received an "A" for the 2025-26 school year in the Texas Education Agency A-F accountability ratings. The district scored 91 out of 100 possible points.
"This is the best accountability record I think I’ve ever presented to the board, so it's super exciting,” Director of Accountability and Achievement Kathy Burbank said at an Aug. 19 meeting.
The big picture
The results released on Aug. 14 signify the district’s second consecutive "A" rating.
LTISD’s ratings include:
- Nine "A" campuses
- Two "B" campuses
Two campuses received a higher letter rating than the previous year, nine received the same letter rating and no campuses received a lower letter rating than 2024-25. Around 82% of campuses received an "A" rating.
All LTISD campuses earned acceptable ratings. Per TEA standards, "D" and "F" ratings are considered “unacceptable.”
Explained
The A-F accountability ratings, established by the 2017 Texas Legislature, rank school districts on three metrics: student achievement, school progress and closing the gaps. The system is designed to drive continuous improvement, according to a news release from the TEA.
LTISD earned 91 out of 100 points for student achievement, 81 points for school progress and 91 for closing the gaps.
In addition to the ratings, certain campuses receive distinctions based on their performance compared to campuses of a similar size and demographic composition. Six LTISD campuses received academic distinctions for being in the top 25% of the campus's comparison group.
What they’re saying
"I sincerely appreciate the entire team's hard work on this," board member Jonathan Bove said at the meeting. "From all of our [teachers] delivering the instruction that leads to these distinctions to the campus administrators holding folks accountable and providing governance and guidance to get to these distinctions."
One more thing
Statewide, 24% of districts and campuses improved ratings from the previous year, and 85% of campuses achieved acceptable academic performance, according to the news release.
