Candidates interested in running for the 2020 primary election could begin filing for candidacy in the state of Texas on Nov. 9.
Republican Mike Schofield filed Nov. 9 to be placed on the ballot for Texas House District 132, according to a Nov. 11 press release. Incumbent Rep. Gina Calanni, D-Katy, filed on Nov. 10, her campaign confirmed Nov. 11.
Schofield previously held the House District 132 seat—which covers portions of the Katy area and Cypress—during the 84th and 85th legislative sessions. Calanni, D-Katy, defeated incumbent Schofield in the November 2018 election by about 100 votes and served during the 86th legislative session.
