The Federal Emergency Management Agency will close the last disaster recovery center in the Katy area at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The center was previously relocated from Katy Mills Mall to the Clay Road Shopping Center at 19214 Clay Road, Katy. Hurricane Harvey victims still in need of FEMA assistance can access the center from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, until it will close permanently.

FEMA announced two other Houston-area centers will also close Friday: the Bayland Community Center located at 6400 Bissonnet St. and the Milton Lusk Youth Activity Center located at 1022 Mercury Drive.

A FEMA representative said since the Katy area DRC opened Sept. 10 at Katy Mills Mall, 17,420 people had visited the center. As of Tuesday, 150 people visited the center over the past week, starting March 19, according to FEMA officials.

FEMA officials said closing decisions were made in agreement with the county, city Emergency Management and the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

According to a FEMA news release, the nearest open DRC in Harris County is at Greenspoint Mall, 12300 North Freeway, Houston. Those in need of FEMA assistance can access that center 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday.
