As the first pediatric hospital along the I-10 Energy Corridor, Texas Children’s West has served more than 5 million patients since its opening, including over 53,000 emergency department visits per year.
The hospital, which opened in 2011, offers a number of pediatric subspecialties, including:
- Cardiology
- Oncology
- Neurology
- Orthopedics
- Surgical services
The 64-bed hospital features eight operating rooms, two minor procedure rooms and a dedicated special procedure suite, allowing families to access complex pediatric care closer to home.
Texas Children’s West milestones
- 2016: Helipad activated for fast air transport of critical pediatric patients with Texas Children’s Kangaroo Crew
- 2018: First ECMO cases, a form of life support, and Texas Children's Urgent Care launched to broaden pediatric services
- 2019: Sleep Center expanded, becoming one of the nation’s largest for children
- 2021: Opened a multidisciplinary Pain Clinic
