Houston Methodist has broken ground on its new $15 million emergency care center located in Texas Heritage Marketplace.
What happened?
Houston Methodist representatives and employees gathered with community members, stakeholders and elected officials Oct. 7 at the future site of its emergency care center, which will increase the system's regional healthcare footprint.
“We are always keeping the patient at the center of everything we do, and part of doing that means making care more accessible, more seamless and better coordinated,” said Marc L. Boom, Houston Methodist’s president and CEO. “This new center accomplishes all of those things.”

According to an Oct. 5 news release, the 11,150-square-foot facility to be constructed by O’Donnell/Snider Construction will include:

Carl Little, CEO of Houston Methodist West Hospital and senior vice president at Houston Methodist, said the center will be the westernmost emergency room before Columbus.
“This marks a significant milestone in our commitment to expanding access to high-quality care in some of our region’s fastest-growing communities,” Little said. “In an emergency, seconds matter. The ECC ensures that patients in Katy and surrounding areas can receive critical lifesaving care closer to home without risking unnecessary delays.”
On the horizon
Houston Methodist officials said the goal is for the center to be completed by the summer of 2027.
