Project to widen FM 2978 at 89% completion

The widening of FM 2978 from FM 1488 to approximately Hardin Store Road was 89% complete as of Nov. 30, according to the Texas Department of Transportation’s latest report. The TxDOT project will widen the stretch of FM 2978 from two lanes to four.

Construction at the intersection of FM 2978 and FM 1488 will not occur Dec. 23-27 and Dec. 30-Jan. 1 from 9 p.m.-5 p.m., according to a Facebook post from Montgomery County Precinct 2 Commissioner Charlie Riley.

Timeline: September 2018-fourth quarter 2021

Cost: $22.79 million

Funding sources: 20% state, 80% federal
