Local West U residents Allaire Clark and Emily Downs celebrated the grand opening of their new antique shop, Curate, on Sept. 24.
"After months of collecting, curating, polishing, styling (and maybe a little chaos), we're so excited to officially open the doors to Curate," a post on the shop's Instagram account read.
Meet the owners
The concept of Curate grew from Emily and Allaire's shared love of the hunt and the belief that the "most interesting" homes are collected over time, not decorated all at once.
According to the store's website, Clark is a former interior designer who travels frequently through Europe, sourcing antiques that bring history and character into modern homes.
Meanwhile, Downs, who left a career in marketing, found herself increasingly drawn to the "hunt for beautiful things," pieces with history, character and a point of view.
Their shared curiosity ultimately led to Curate, a place that they describe as a "celebration of the idea that in an increasingly digital world, the things we choose to live with can feel more personal and unique than ever."
