During a presentation during Tomball City Council’s Dec. 4 meeting, Tidy Up Tomball President Amanda Trickey gave an update regarding the nonprofit’s Nov. 4 event.

In a nutshell

During the inaugural event on Nov. 4, over 180 volunteers with Tidy Up Tomball picked up around 300 pounds of trash from 19 half-mile routes through the city, Trickey said during her presentation.

“It was awesome,” Trickey said about the event during her presentation. “We had so much support. We had so much fun.”

Tidy Up Tomball was founded this year with the goal of eliminating waste and litter throughout Tomball, according to its website.

What else?

Trickey said the nonprofit has formed several working committees that members of the public can join, such as event operations and sponsorships. There is also an advisory council.

Quote of note

“This is exactly the initiative that we were looking to start,” Mayor Lori Klein Quinn said during the Dec. 4 meeting. “Citizen-led, citizen-run—[it’s] excellent, and the future of this could really impact beautification in Tomball. Thank you so much for doing this.”
