Montgomery County Food Bank plans luncheon
Montgomery County Food Bank announced its inaugural Flourish & Nourish Ladies Luncheon, a signature event for women in Montgomery County to prevent hunger.
Cat Cora, the first female Iron Chef on "Iron Chef America” and founder of the nonprofit Chefs for Humanity will participate in a fireside chat and Q&A moderated by KPRC 2 news anchor Lisa Hernandez as part of the event.
The event is presented by Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital and will take place Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. at The Blue Magnolia at 1 Whispering Pines St., Magnolia.
Breakfast benefit raises $15,000 for Children's Safe Harbor
A breakfast fundraiser held by Montgomery County Precinct 3 Constable Ryan Gable at Truluck’s The Woodlands on June 10 raised more than $15,000 to benefit a nonprofit geared toward children. The Children’s Safe Harbor benefit saw a crowd of 150 supporting the children's advocacy center.
The event included a speech by Emily Springer, a child abuse survivor who received services and support from Children’s Safe Harbor, according to a news release. Springer recently joined the staff of Children’s Safe Harbor as a client relations specialist, according to the release.

The Woodlands Children's Museum receives donation from Market Street
As part of its Change for Charity initiative, Market Street recently donated $12,500 to The Woodlands Children’s Museum, according to a July 27 news release. Located on Panther Creek Drive in The Woodlands, the museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays and has operated since 2001.
“We are thrilled and honored to benefit from the Change for Charity program and appreciate Market Street's generous support for nonprofits in our community," said Jennifer Kraus, interim executive director of The Woodlands Children's Museum. "Funding is a tremendous help as we enjoy a busy summer season full of magical activities for children and families."
Market Street selects a nonprofit as the recipient for a donation from its Change for Charity program each quarter, and the program has raised more than $350,000 for local charities, according to a news release.

Community mural finds permanent home at Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center
The collaborative mural "A Community in Bloom," created by attendees of The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival weekend in April, is now on permanent exhibit at Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center. The project stemmed from a call for artists from The Woodlands Art League to design an interactive community project for the arts festival, according to a news release. The proposal from artist Sandra Cooper included transforming hundreds of individually painted tiles into a triptych. The project is presented through a partnership between The Woodlands Arts Council,The Woodlands Art League, and Canopy Cancer Survivorship Center at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center to inspire patients and families, according to the release. Canopy provides support for patients and caregivers for those experiencing cancer, regardless of where they received treatment.

Interfaith launches school supplies program
Interfaith of The Woodlands launched annual Kits 4 Kids School Supplies Assistance Program, a community-wide effort dedicated to helping local students in Conroe ISD. The program provides supplies to more than 2,000 students in South Montgomery County each year. Donations are made by local businesses, churches, organizations, schools and community members. The most requested items include fun-themed backpacks, markers, crayons and notebooks, according to a news release.
“Every child deserves the opportunity to start the school year feeling prepared and supported,” said Missy Herndon, president and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands. “Through our school supply assistance programs, our community comes together each year to help local children succeed while reminding families that they are not alone during challenging times.”
