Sri Satyanarayana Temple of Greater Houston, 24801 Botkins Road, Hockley, will host a three-day grand opening event Feb. 3-5. Vice President Jisha Iyer said it will be the first Hindu temple in the Greater Houston area.

“It will be of quick access for Bridgeland, Cypress Creek Lakes, Coles Crossing and many more large neighborhoods,” she said in an email. “The purpose of the temple is to provide a place of worship while providing community services.”

According to the temple website, all Hindu festivals and rituals are celebrated at Sri Satyanarayana to showcase traditions.

“Our aim is to provide a place for the growing Indian community to meet and get to know each other,” the website said. “[However], we welcome everyone to visit our temple premises irrespective of race and religion.”

The grand opening ceremony is spread across three days with the main celebration starting Feb. 5. at 9 a.m. Iyer said lunch will be served. 281-560-3065. www.sstgh.org
