How we got here
Benoit was appointed by City Council Feb. 19 to replace Don Doeing, who retired as city administrator in November, as previously reported. Benoit was still within the 90-day window City Council had to either appoint him as administrator or grant an extension for an additional 90 days.
Texas First Group will find a replacement interim city administrator for a contract fee of $176,880, which is made up of $134,000–the base annual salary for the position–plus 30% of the average of budgeted benefits, according to the agenda.
“It has always been the goal of the Texas First Group to provide a helping hand to cities experiencing a disruption in executive services,” Texas First Group said in a letter in the agenda packet. ”It is also our desire to help your city through this time of transition as we stand ready to provide our services to your city.”
A reason for Benoit’s termination was not given during the March 24 meeting.
