Magnolia Fire Department announced Terry Colburn will be its new fire chief effective Dec. 2, according to a Nov. 6 news release.

Colburn will replace Jeff Hevey, who is retiring, according to the news release. The search for a new fire chief began in May, Community Impact previously reported.

Colburn was selected from a pool of 63 applicants from 12 states, according to the news release. He comes to the Magnolia Fire Department from the Houston Fire Department, where he began his career as a firefighter paramedic.

Colburn is a member of the Texas Fire Chiefs Association and the International Association of Fire Chiefs. He is also a certified fire instructor, and has lived in Magnolia for over 45 years, according to the news release.

The Magnolia Fire Department is equipped and operated by Montgomery County Emergency Services District No. 10, which provides services to around 80,000 residents within 175 square miles, according to its website.
