PJs Coffee of New Orleans opens in Pearland in August

PJs Coffee of New Orleans is open at 12640 Broadway St., Ste. 102, and planning a grand opening on Sept. 1. The shop, whose original location is in the French Quarter of New Orleans, offers small-batch roasted coffee, espresso-based beverages, flavored coffees, as well as fresh baked pastries and desserts.


Lake Houston-Humble-Kingwood

Starbucks now open in Kingwood Place shopping center

A Starbucks opened July 27 at 30130 Rock Creek Drive, Ste. 100, Kingwood, in the Kingwood Place retail center. The international coffee chain offers hot and cold coffee and espresso beverages, teas, sandwiches and pastries. The location has a drive-thru, free Wi-Fi and outdoor seating, and it employs 25 people, according to a Starbucks spokesperson.

Galavant's Coffee now open in downtown Conroe

Galavant's Coffee opened Aug. 3 in downtown Conroe. Owners Bradley Bailey and Makenzie Rankin operate the mobile coffee cart and sell teas, homemade syrups and espresso-based beverages using beans from Amaya Coffee, a specialty roaster based in Houston.

Luv Coffee to open in Montgomery this winter

Luv Coffee will open in the winter of 2020 at 791 Fish Creek Thoroughfare, Montgomery. The cafe will serve coffee, pastries and healthy food. The cafe is also a part of Coreluv, a Christian nonprofit that provides care for orphans in Haiti and India. www.luvcoffee.net

Damn Fine Coffee and Fried Pies now open in Seabrook

Originally expected to open in spring 2019 and facing several delays, Damn Fine Coffee and Fried Pies officially opened July 3. The business at 910 Hall Ave., Seabrook, sells coffee at local farmers markets but has now expanded its offerings with a storefront that sells coffee, nitro cold brew, craft sodas and desserts, such as fried pies and handmade gelato.

Active Passion to open in the fall


A new fitness-focused coffee shop, Active Passion, is expected to open this fall at 802 Usener St., Houston. The concept will combine all the traditional features of a coffee shop, including locally roasted coffee drinks as well as teas with an active health and wellness approach, including healthy meal options and post-workout mocktail drinks, bike racks with locks, a bike service station, community events and regular group activities. www.myactivepassion.com
