What you need to know
According to a news release from The Woodlands Marathon, eastbound Lake Woodlands Drive will be closed from 6:30 a.m.-11 a.m. from Kuykendahl Road to Grogans Mill Road. Lake Woodlands will be used as a contraflow lane with vehicles traveling both east and west from Lake Front Circle to Cochran's Crossing on the westbound side, according to the release.
According to the release, drivers crossing the designated center area of the racecourse should expect 15-to-30-minute delays.
The following other roads will be affected by closures during the race:
- Lake Robbins Drive: eastbound/westbound lanes
- Grogans Mill Road: southbound/northbound lanes
- Research Forest Drive: eastbound lanes
- Kuykendahl Road: northbound lanes
- Timberloch Place: westbound lane
- Lake Woodlands Drive: eastbound lanes
- Woodlands Parkway: westbound lanes, outside lane only; inside lanes will be open
- East Panther Creek Drive: northbound lane
- West Panther Creek Drive: northbound lane
- Research Forest westbound
- Branch Crossing northbound and southbound
- Woodlands Parkway eastbound and westbound
- I-45 northbound and southbound
- Kuykendahl Road southbound
Why it matters
According to The Woodlands Marathon website, the event has a $4.5 million economic impact for the community, and over $1.3 million has been donated to local and national volunteer organizations since 2012 through the event.
