The Montgomery County Memorial Library System announced a new systemwide program, Innovate@MCMLS, to engage community members with technological and creative tools, according to a Dec. 3 news release.

The initiative will begin in January at the Kevin Brady Library and Community Center in The Woodlands and will promote and provide information, education, culture and innovation for Montgomery County residents, according to the release.

The details

The library will add an innovation space that will include a professional podcast studio with audio and video production capabilities as well as a makerspace with fabrication tools, 3D modular printers, scanners and other equipment, according to the news release.

The program will be available for library patrons of all ages and backgrounds. The new initiative supports the library system’s organizational priorities for strategic innovation, Executive Library Director Janna Hoglund said in the news release.

“As information technology and public expectations continue to evolve, we need to invest wisely in digital resources, advanced technology, flexible spaces and comprehensive programming that meet current needs while planning for the future,” Hoglund said.

To start the Innovate@MCMLS initiative at the library, MCMLS partnered with Howard Hughes Communities and Vogt Engineering, according to the release. Both organizations contributed to the planning and construction of the library.
