Montgomery County primaries that will see contested elections in The Woodlands area include the Republican races for county judge, Precinct 2 commissioner and Precinct 3 justice of the peace, according to filing information.

Among the uncontested primary races, James Graf is the sole Democratic candidate for Montgomery County judge and will face the Republican primary winner this November.

Several Montgomery County races in countywide offices have unopposed primaries, including the elections for Precinct 4 commissioner, district clerk, county clerk and county treasurer.


Here are the candidates in several contested races in The Woodlands area in Montgomery County on the primary ballots. There are no contested Democratic races for these positions. These listings are not comprehensive of all elections that will appear on ballots.

Brad Bailey, the current chair of The Woodlands Township board of directors, is the sole Republican primary candidate for state House District 15, and Moniqua’ S. Scott is the sole Democratic primary candidate, leaving both primary races uncontested March 3.


In addition, a special election will be held May 2 to fill the state Senate District 4 seat formerly occupied by Brandon Creighton, who resigned to lead the Texas Tech University System. Filing for that race is open through March 3, according to a proclamation by Gov. Greg Abbott. The winner will fill the seat until it expires in January 2027.

Filing will open Jan. 14 for the May 2 election for three positions in the city of Shenandoah and will run through Feb. 13. The positions of mayor, and City Council positions 1 and 5 are up for election this year.

In the city of Oak Ridge North, the positions of mayor and City Council positions 1 and 3 are up for election in even-numbered years, such as 2026, according to the city website.
