Sugar Land Mayor and At-Large positions 1 and 2 will be on the May 2 City Council election ballot.

So far, Mayor Joe Zimmerman and At-Large Position 2 Council Member Jennifer Lane have filed for re-election. Farha Ahmed has filed to run in the At-Large Position 1 race.

Himesh Ghandi, the incumbent council member for At-Large Position 1, is serving his fourth and final two-year term. Due to term limits in Sugar Land, council members can only serve four consecutive two-year terms.

The filing window for the May 2 election opened Jan. 15 and closes Feb. 14.

Sugar Land City Council has four district seats, two at-large seats and a mayoral seat. The four district seats will be up for election again in 2021.
