Updated: 8:51 a.m. Nov. 7: A runoff election will be held Dec. 8 between Allen Owen and Yolanda Ford for the Missouri City mayor race, according to the city. Chris Preston and Susan Soto will also face off in a runoff for the council member at large, Position 2 seat. Returns will officially be canvassed on Nov. 19. Update: 12:05 a.m., Nov. 7: Unofficial results show that Allen Owen leads the race for Missouri City mayor. Vashundra Edwards won the race for council member at large, Position 1 and Chris Preston leads the race for council member at large, Position 2. All voting centers have reported. In Fort Bend County, incumbent Allen Owen received 36.06 percent of the vote, while Mayor Pro Tem Yolanda Ford received 34.93 percent. Taylor garnered 29.01 percent. In Harris County, Owen received 18.94 percent of the vote, while Ford received 46.24 percent and Taylor received 34.82 percent. Vashundra Edwards unseated incumbent Jerry Wyatt for council member at large, Position 1, with 54.28 percent of the vote, while Wyatt received 45.72 percent. Edwards, who has a background in probation, government and community advocacy, told Community Impact Newspaper in September that her top priorities would be more community involvement, local government transparency and economic development. "This experience has helped build my character and gave me exposure to things I would not have had," she said. "I am excited for the opportunity to serve my community and help others." She will be sworn in on Nov. 19. Meanwhile incumbent Chris Preston leads the polls for council member at large, Position 2 with 47.49 percent of the vote, against opponents H.R. ‘Buddy’ Snyder's 12.20 percent, Angie Wierzbicki with 15.44 percent and Susan Soto's 24.86 percent.
