Prior to the swearing-in ceremony, the Missouri City City Council canvassed the Nov. 8 election results. According to the official results, Elackatt won with 13,709 votes, or 54.28% of votes cast for mayor; his opponent, Yolanda Ford, lost by a margin of 2,163 votes with 11,546 votes, or 45.72% of votes cast.
Brown-Marshall won her election for at-large Position 1 with 13,847 votes, or 60.1%. She defeated incumbent Vashaundra Edwards' 9,193 votes, or 39.9%, by a margin of 4,654 votes.
Clouser, who is the incumbent for at-large Position 2, obtained 18,098 votes, or 78.81% of the votes, cast for her race. She defeated Bruce Zaborowski by a margin of 13,231 votes to his 4,867, or 21.19% of votes.
According to the canvassing, Elackatt gained 437 votes, while Ford gained 1,180. Brown-Marshall gained 820, while Edwards gained 741. Clouser gained 1,218, while Zaborowski gained 312.
All three victors of the Nov. 8 election gave speeches during the investiture ceremony, each thanking those who supported them. U.S. Rep. Al Green, D-Houston, attended the ceremony to swear in Elackatt.
