Editor's note: Republican candidate information was updated Dec. 18 as candidate filing information from the Fort Bend County Republican Party was received.

The candidate filing deadline for the March primaries closed Dec. 11, and numerous applicants filed for positions that will represent the Sugar Land and Missouri City area.

In addition to presidential and statewide candidates, several county-level positions will be on the March 5 ballot. Voters will have a chance to weigh in on which local candidate will represent their political party in the November election.

To participate in the primary elections, residents must register to vote by Feb. 5. Early voting for the March 5 Republican and Democratic primary elections will be held Feb. 20-March 1, according to the SOS website. The winners of each primary will compete in the Nov. 5 general elections.
