Voters in Fort Bend ISD have denied a proposition that would seek to bring the district's tax rate to $1.2101 per $100 valuation, according to voting data provided by Fort Bend County.

Unofficial final results show that 66,037 votes were against the proposition, at 54.01%. Meanwhile, 56,240 FBISD residents voted for the proposition, at 45.99%.

The data represents 82 of 82 Fort Bend County election day polling locations reporting in.

As of 10:46 p.m., voters in Fort Bend ISD continue to disapprove of a voter-approval tax rate election, with 58,477 voters, or 53.91%, against a proposition that would bring the district’s tax rate to $1.2101 per $100 valuation. Meanwhile, 49,985 voters, or 46.09%, have voted in favor of the proposition.

In the Nov. 8 election that will decide the fate of a voter-approval tax rate election in Fort Bend ISD, 53.97% of voters have voted against a proposition that will bring the district’s tax rate to $1.2101 per $100 valuation if approved, according to early-voting data provided by Fort Bend County.


As of 9:12 p.m., 46.03% of voters have voted to approve the measure, which would result in an increase of 7.31% in taxes paid by residents compared to the preceding year while providing an additional $47.66 million in revenue for the district.

When the FBISD board of trustees voted to call the election Aug. 22, it did so as the district looks to bridge a $47 million deficit in fiscal year 2022-23 and provide the district room to pay for additional compensation increases, programs and safety measures, including providing officers at every elementary school campus.
