At a Dec. 2 meeting, Missouri City Development Authority approved an economic agreement to support the relocation of Crossover Athletics, a community sports and fitness center.
The business is currently located at 815 Summer Park Drive, Stafford, and plans to relocate to 503 Texas Parkway, Missouri City, according to agenda documents. The new facility is set to be located within Tax Incremement Reinvestment Zone 1, making the developer eligible for reimbursement for infrastructure if developed, said Herman Rodriquez, executive director of economic development for Missouri City, in an email.
According to the agreement, the $6.43 million Crossover Athletics facility is eligible for $384,723 in property tax reimbursement for water, sanitary sewer and drainage work, according to agenda documents.

The 40,000-square-foot multipurpose facility would have four indoor basketball and volleyball courts as well as future outdoor sports fields, according to agenda documents.
Additionally, the facility will host:
- After-school programming
- Amateur Athletic Union tournaments
- Adult basketball leagues
- Youth basketball camps
- Cheerleading and dance competitions
The facility has the potential to bring significant benefits, including tax revenue and economic development, to Missouri City by enhancing its position as a regional destination for sports and tourism, Rodriquez said in an email.
“It is expected to attract visitors from across the Houston metro area and beyond, contributing to the local economy through increased spending at hotels, restaurants and other businesses,” he said. “These developments not only provide additional options for our residents but also help expand Missouri City’s economic development footprint.”
