Missouri City Interim City Manager Allen Bogard will continue serving into 2027.
The big picture
At a Sept. 8 special meeting, Missouri City City Council approved the extension of Bogard’s contract as city manager through Aug. 31, 2027 unless extended.
The city first appointed Bogard as interim city manager in July shortly after former City Manager Angel Jones left to be closer to family, Community Impact reported. Bogard previously served as city manager for Sugar Land for almost two decades before opening a local government consulting firm.
On another note
The council also voted to appoint Jim Callaway as a new assistant city manager, in which role he will oversee community development, which includes the development services, neighborhood services and economic development departments, among others.
He joins Shashi Kumar and Bertha Alexander as the city’s third assistant city manager, per the city’s website.
Callaway previously served as assistant city manager for Sugar Land, where he helped the city expand with major projects, like New Territory, Greatwood and Riverpark, according to a Jan. 30 Instagram post from the city of Sugar Land.
Looking ahead
City officials expect to kick off the search for a permanent city manager in early 2027, but a timeline has not been finalized, Communications Manager Sofia Jamal said in an email.
