The total number of cases in the county—which includes active cases, recoveries and deaths—only increased by nine in one day, according to data released April 21.

The nine new cases did cause the total case count for the county to surpass 800.

Of the county’s cases, 129 are located in Missouri City, 94 are in Sugar Land and the majority—445—are in unincorporated parts of Fort Bend County.




The following ZIP codes are reporting the highest case counts in the Sugar Land-Missouri City area. ZIP codes do not align with city boundaries; as such, these case counts include cases in unincorporated Fort Bend County.


  • 77459: 110 cases

  • 77469: 80 cases

  • 77479: 72 cases

  • 77477: 70 cases

  • 77489: 67 cases

  • 77407: 67 cases

  • 77498: 65 cases



With the 12 additional recoveries reported today, Fort Bend County is now reporting that 97 people countywide have recovered from the coronavirus. The county has not yet responded to an inquiry asking how case recoveries are tracked.

At this time, 62 of the 693 people with active cases in the county are hospitalized. The remaining 631 people are recovering at home, according to the county.

Recently, the county also began releasing coronavirus patients’ race and ethnicity information. Currently, 34% of people who have tested positive for the virus in Fort Bend County are black (non-Hispanic). According to 2018 U.S. Census Bureau data, 20.4% of Fort Bend County residents are black (non-Hispanic).
