Ohio-based Donatos Pizza plans to begin its Houston-area operations in Missouri City’s Rocky Creek Crossing shopping center, a leasing representative confirmed.

The pizzeria, which will be located in the recently closed Detail Garage site, is set to serve signature pizzas, subs, salads, wings and dessert, according to its website.

The history

The pizzeria began in 1963 when founder Jim Grote purchased a Columbus pizza shop at age 19 and built it into a family-centered business, per its website.

Grote kept the name, which comes from the Latin meaning “to give a good thing”—a reflection of his three-part mission: craft top-quality pizza, build a strong team and give back to the community.

Zooming out

The company, which operates over 460 location across 29 states, first expanded to Texas in 2024 with a Frisco site and later opened another location in Flower Mound and Allen, Community Impact reported.
